Comments I think it's a marvellous idea. For the little players a new arena is good, back in the day when I played for Tecumseh Chiefs we played on crap rinks so I hope it works out. I'm 92 years old and I love hockey.

Comments The Windsor Star endorses new arena at Windsor Raceway on April 19th, 2005. "A top-notch arena at Windsor Raceway is starting to look far more attractive given the casino expansion." Obviously, sentiment has changed. I was born and raised in Windsor. After I graduated from secondary school, I moved from Windsor to attend college and university. I've kept myself informed about Windsor. I must admit that Tecumseh is an ideal location for the Ice Track. However, I'm of the opinion that Tecumseh and Windsor missed a great opportunity to push for better regional planning. The whole Ice Track issue is being spun to make Tecumseh's politicians look insensitive to the needs of numerous Windsor families (and school programs). If regional planning was better, the Raceway and slots operation would've been relocated to Tecumseh just as Tecumseh was beginning its expansion, and the arena would've been rebuilt downtown in an effort to "revitalize the semi-precious downtown core". I've noticed that people have posted comments on here that speak to the issue of "diversifying" Windsor's economy. What? How is this an example of diversification? Does the Windsor-Essex County area really, and I mean REALLY, need a hockey arena in LaSalle, Amherstburg, Windsor, Tecumseh, Leamington and Essex? Does the amount of people who play hockey warrant the number of arenas in this area? I commend the Rosati/Toldo group for their business savvy.

Comments I'm doing a project in my grade ten science class about the pros and the cons of this project ice track, and after looking at all the good things it'll bring, and how it will be a good place for a family to go, for the hockey teams that need a place to go and practice + watching hockey games.. I think that I approve of the new ice track that wants to be built in the town of Tecumseh. Even if a little part of land will have to be removed or w.e...Hockey is a canadian sport, and it shouldn`t be such a big deal to make an arena for it.

Comments Hey My name is Blake Gecse and I'm 13 years old. I am currently living in Lasalle playing for Lasalle Sabres Travel Team. As you may not know us Lasalle Townspeople are in need of an arena built. I think that the Windsor Council should have approved of the Ice Track on Sprucewood near Windsor Raceway. This location would be connected to all routes and i think would be a better choice. Anyways at least we are getting somewhere with a new arena. Thanks for taking the time to read this..

Comments I think this is pretty cool that we are getting something like this.

Comments My name is brittany marshall. I'm 16 and I'm a figure skater at south windsor arena... my opinion is DO IT. We need this so much. for what..10 windsor has been tossing ideas or plans for a new Windsor arena but nothing is being done. where as techumseh and im not sure what other town/city...i think lasalle, have put plans into action. as i remember correctly wayne gratzky offered to build windsor a new arena..I'm not exactly sure about details but im now some of the justs. I can't tell you how amazing it is to see this happening. now only should you host hockey at this arena ..but figure skating too. the south windsor skating club currently skates at the south windsor recreation complex. nice building. but...the ice pad is small and for high numbers of skaters its frustraiting...all the more reason to move our skating club there...also instead of once ice pad there should be two. but I do know that its VERY expensive. also don't forget..LOTS of PARKING...
well hope you en joyed a 16 year old citizens comment. thanks for reading this

Comments I want my message to be heard. First of all my question is how much is this east end proposal going to cost the city of Windsor Tax payers? The current proposal states that an east end arena will cost the city of Windsor 50 million dollars. The actual location of this proposal has never been stated, which tells me that the land required to house the new arena has never been purchased. This tells me that in addition to the 50 million dollars needed to build the arena we have to buy the land and develop the infrastructure to support the arena. At the end of the day we will be looking between 70 to 100 million dollars not 50 million. Lets not forget what has happen to the town of LaSalle tax payers. The Town have gone some 8 million dollars over budget to build their twin pad ice arena. The reason why is because the cost of the infrastructure was never clearly disclosed to the town of LaSalle Tax payers. How come the city of Windsor, with all its business case scenarios has not expressed these additional expenses to the city of Windsor tax payers?????? I believe the city of Windsor tax payers have a right to know exactly what this area will cost them!

Now that this region has an established large venue style arena (Project Ice Track), Windsor should only build a community ice rink. Two large bowls are not required in the region and I do believe that one arena can support two teams. Let’s take this opportunity to save the city of Windsor taxpayers some money, lets build what we need, not something we want to build just to house the Windsor Spits. In the end every smart business decision is based on facts and the final numbers. Any good politician thinks and acts like a good business men/women to ensure that the tax payers money is put to good use. The City of Windsor needs to put their pride away and act like a good business man, nothing personal just business.
